Regular Season Round 7: Arecibo - San German 85-66

The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Capitanes' (4-4) home victory over 4th placed Atleticos (3-6) 85-66 on Thursday. It was a great evening for the former international Christopher Gaston (201-1989, college: Fordham) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). International forward Jonathan Rodriguez (196-1987, college: Campbell) helped adding 12 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side American Onzie Branch (201-1991, college: Gardner-Webb) responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import point guard Tjader Fernandez (178-1994) scored 14 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains third place with 4-4 record behind leader Quebradillas, which they share with Santurce. Loser Atleticos keep the fourth position with six games lost. Capitanes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Arecibo Capitanes.
