Sao Paulo dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Paschoalotto/Bauru's 22. The best player for the winners was American power forward Tyrone Curnell (203-1988, college: Valdosta St.) who scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Bruno Caboclo (206-1995) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Four Sao Paulo players scored in double figures. Sao Paulo's coach Bruno Mortari felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International Gabriel Galvanini (202-1998) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized American point guard Larry Taylor (183-1980, college: MWSU) added 20 points respectively for the hosts.
