No shocking result in a game in Bayamon where first ranked Vaqueros (7-3) defeated 5th ranked Grises (4-4) 86-71 on Friday. Vaqueros dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Grises' 36. Vaqueros forced 19 Grises turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international center Ismael Romero (205-1991) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Cliff Duran (193-1989) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side American guard Gabriel Belardo (188-1989, college: FIU) responded with 12 points and 4 assists and the former international guard Jorge Pacheco-Ortiz (186-1998, college: Liberty) scored 15 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vaqueros have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-3 record. Loser Grises keep the fifth place with four games lost. Vaqueros will meet at home league's second-placed Mets in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Grises will play against Cariduros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
