Regular Season Round 19: Atleticas - Lobas 57-51

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Lobas (13-4) against sixth ranked Atleticas (9-8) on Saturday night. Visiting Lobas were defeated by Atleticas in a tough game in Monterrey 51-57. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lobas. They outrebounded Lobas 36-21 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Dominican center Yamile Rodriguez (188-1994, college: ETSU) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. The former international point guard Abril Roldan (168-2002) helped adding 16 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side the former international swingman Ingrid Martinez (175-1995) responded with 19 points and Puerto Rican Andrea Medina (169-1992) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Atleticas maintains sixth place with 9-8 record. Defending champion Lobas keep the third position with four games lost. Atleticas will again meet at home higher ranked Lobas (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lobas will have a break next round.
