The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Piratas as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Piratas edged 3rd ranked Capitanes in Quebradillas 88-85. Naturalized American forward Phillip Wheeler (204-2002) fired 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Jamil Wilson (201-1990, college: Marquette) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-1986, college: Florida) produced 20 points and Dominican Victor Liz (193-1986) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Capitanes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Defending champion Capitanes keep the third place with five games lost. Capitanes will play next round against Indios trying to get back on the winning streak. Piratas will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Brujos in Guayama.
