Regular Season Round 10: Santurce - Bayamon 95-89

Top ranked Vaqueros (7-3) recorded its third loss in Santurce. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Cangrejeros (6-6) 95-89. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Vaqueros. Cangrejeros forced 19 Vaqueros turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Vaqueros were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Mali power forward Cheick Diallo (206-1996, college: Kansas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points and 20 rebounds. The former international point guard JJ Barea (183-1984, college: Northeastern) contributed with 12 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Cangrejeros players scored in double figures. Cangrejeros' coach Carlos Calcano allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international Javier Mojica (189-1984, college: CCSU) replied with 36 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field) and the former international center Ismael Romero (205-1991) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Vaqueros. Cangrejeros moved-up to third place. Vaqueros at the other side still keep top position with three games lost. Cangrejeros will play against Gigantes (#6) in Carolina in the next round. Vaqueros will play at home against the league's second-placed Mets (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
