The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Gigantes' (2-7) road loss to fifth ranked Indios (5-9) in Mayaguez 88-103 on Monday. Indios looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Jaysean Paige (188-1994, college: WVU) who led the winners and scored 32 points and 6 assists. American point guard Dwight Buycks (191-1989, college: Marquette) accounted for 7 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. American guard Sheldon McClellan (196-1992, college: Miami, FL, agency: Slash Sports) came up with 24 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and Nigerian power forward Alade Aminu (207-87, college: Georgia Tech) added 21 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Gigantes in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Indios maintains fifth place with 5-9 record. Gigantes lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Indios will meet at home Brujos (#6) in the next round. Gigantes will play against Cangrejeros and hope to secure a win.
