Regular Season Round 12: Guaynabo - Carolina 104-122
Date: May 12, 2022
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Mets (6-7) against sixth ranked Gigantes (3-7) on Thursday night. Host Mets were defeated by Gigantes in Guaynabo 122-104. Gigantes shot 63.0 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 56.7 percentage. Gigantes players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. The winners were led by American point guard Tremont Waters (180-1998, college: LSU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 assists and the other American import guard Sheldon McClellan (196-1992, college: Miami, FL, agency: Slash Sports) supported him with 25 points and 4 assists. Even 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Ben Moore (203-1995, college: SMU) did not help to save the game for Mets. The former international guard Tyquan Rolon (192-1995, college: LeMoyne) added 15 points and 10 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gigantes maintains sixth position with 3-7 record. Mets at the other side keep the second place with seven games lost. They share the position with Fajardo and Santurce. Gigantes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mets will play at home against Indios and hope to get back on the winning track.
