The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Vaqueros (9-4) in Bayamon on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by third ranked Capitanes (9-5) 90-88. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Vaqueros. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Capitanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican Victor Liz (193-1986) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 4 assists and the former international swingman David Huertas (196-1987, college: Ole Miss) who added 19 points and 4 assists during the contest. Capitanes' coach Rafael Cruz used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American power forward Dewan Hernandez (211-1997, college: Miami, FL) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and the former international Javier Mojica (189-1984, college: CCSU) scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Capitanes have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Vaqueros at the other side still keep top position with four games lost. Capitanes are looking forward to face Brujos (#6) in Guayama in the next round. Vaqueros will play at home against the league's leader Piratas (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
