Regular Season Round 6: Halcones - Panteras 72-65

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Panteras (5-2) in Xalapa on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Halcones (2-6) 72-65. Halcones dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Panteras' 24. Halcones forced 19 Panteras turnovers and outrebounded them 43-31 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American swingman Jordan Reynolds (180-1995, college: Tennessee) had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import point guard Tiffany Brown (168-1986, college: Georgia South) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Latvian guard Ilze Jakobsone (168-1994) with 20 points and 7 assists and American forward Samantha Fuehring (190-1997, college: Louisville) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Halcones moved-up to third place. Panteras at the other side still keep top position with two games lost. They share it with Fuerza Regia. Halcones are looking forward to face league's second-placed Fuerza Regia in Monterrey in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Panteras will play on the road against the league's second-placed Libertadores in Queretaro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
