Regular Season Round 13: Bayamon - Quebradillas 82-74

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Piratas (10-5) in Bayamon on Monday night. Visitors were defeated by Vaqueros (10-4) 82-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Piratas. It was a key game for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Piratas 40-26 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vaqueros looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international center Ismael Romero (205-1991) fired 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. American power forward Dewan Hernandez (211-1997, college: Miami, FL) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Gary Browne (185-1993, college: WVU) produced 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized American forward Phillip Wheeler (204-2002) added 22 points respectively for lost side. Vaqueros maintains first place with 10-4 record which they share with defeated Piratas. Piratas at the other side still keep top position with five games lost. They share it with Arecibo. Vaqueros are looking forward to face league's second-placed Cangrejeros in Santurce in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Piratas will play on the road against Grises in Humacao and are hoping to win this game.
