There was a small surprise when fourth ranked Atleticos (9-8) edged second-ranked Capitanes (10-6) in San German 78-75 on Wednesday. American forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (201-1995, college: Arizona) notched 24 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks to lead the effort and the other American import guard Nate Mason (188-1995, college: Minnesota) supported him with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) by Nigerian-American power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-1987, college: Texas A&M) did not help to save the game for Capitanes. Naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-1986, college: Florida) added 18 points for the guests. Four Capitanes players scored in double figures. Capitanes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Atleticos have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 9-8 record. Defending champion Capitanes keep the second place with six games lost. They share the position with Quebradillas. Atleticos will again meet higher ranked Capitanes (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Capitanes will have a break next round.
