The game between closely ranked teams ended with one of their biggest challengers Capitanes' (11-8) road loss to second ranked Cariduros (9-9) 84-91 on Thursday. Cariduros looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Terrence Jones (206-1992, college: Kentucky) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import Earl Clark (208-1988, college: Louisville) who added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Cariduros' coach Allans Colon used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Nigerian-American power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-1987, college: Texas A&M) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-1986, college: Florida) scored 19 points and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cariduros maintains second position with 9-9 record having four points less than leader Ponce. Defending champion Capitanes keep the third place with eight games lost. Cariduros will meet Atleticos (#4) in the next round. Capitanes will play against the league's second-placed Piratas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
