Rather expected game in Santurce where 5th ranked Gigantes (8-11) were defeated by third ranked Cangrejeros (10-11) 110-104 on Monday. Cangrejeros made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Cangrejeros looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Mali power forward Cheick Diallo (206-1996, college: Kansas) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and international guard Gian Clavell (193-1993, college: Colorado St., agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 25 points. American guard Sheldon McClellan (196-1992, college: Miami, FL, agency: Slash Sports) responded with 38 points (!!!) (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and the other American import point guard Tremont Waters (180-1998, college: LSU) scored 14 points and 9 assists. Four Cangrejeros and five Gigantes players scored in double figures. Gigantes' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cangrejeros maintains third place with 10-11 record having five points less than leader Arecibo. Loser Gigantes keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. Cangrejeros will meet at home league's second-placed Cariduros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gigantes will play against Grises and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
