A very close game took place in Santo Domingo between Soles and Metros. Soles (3-1) got a very close home victory over Metros (2-2). Soles managed to escape with a 2-point win 86-84 on Tuesday evening. Soles made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized American Gerardo Suero (196-1989, college: Albany) who led the winners and scored 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American Tim Bond (201-1995, college: EMU) accounted for 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Bond is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. American Robert Glenn (203-1988, college: IUPUI) came up with 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and the other American import Brandon Moss (208, college: LSUA) added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for Metros in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Soles will meet at home Marineros (#5) in the next round. Metros will play against Indios and hope to secure a win.
