The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Brujos' (5-15) road loss to fifth ranked Gigantes (8-11) 87-97 on Wednesday. Gigantes made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Sheldon McClellan (196-1992, college: Miami, FL, agency: Slash Sports) stepped up and scored 32 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Tremont Waters (180-1998, college: LSU) chipped in 14 points and 12 assists. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Gigantes' coach Carlos Gonzalez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Ben McCauley (206-1986, college: NC State) responded with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Christopher Ortiz (203-1993, college: Kent St.) scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Gigantes maintains fifth place with 8-11 record. Loser Brujos keep the sixth position with 15 games lost. Gigantes will meet at home Grises (#6) in the next round. Brujos will play against the league's leader Capitanes and hope to secure a win.
