Everything went according to plan in Fajardo where second ranked Cariduros (11-10) won against 4th placed Atleticos (11-11) 85-75 on Wednesday. Cariduros looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Power forward Terrence Jones (206-1992, college: Kentucky) stepped up and scored 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and swingman Lamar Patterson (196-1991, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Will Daniels (202-1986, college: URI) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and guard Nate Mason (188-1995, college: Minnesota) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cariduros maintains second place with 11-10 record having four points less than leader Arecibo. Loser Atleticos keep the fourth position with 11 games lost. Cariduros will meet Cangrejeros (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Atleticos will play against Indios in Mayaguez and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
