Regular Season Round 3: Opico - Marlins 54-45

Very expected game when Marlins (0-3) lost on the road to Opico (1-1) 54-45 on Thursday. Opico forced 21 Marlins turnovers and outrebounded them 70-30 including a 33-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for center Karla Escobar (175-1993) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 24 rebounds. Monica Canjura (167-2002) accounted for 12 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Forward Dayana Espinoza (165-2006) came up with 14 points, 6 assists and 5 steals and Valeria Murcia added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Marlins in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Opico will meet San Marcos on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Marlins will play against Sivar (#6) and hope to get finally their first victory.
