A very close game took place in Mayaguez between Indios and Atleticos. Fifth ranked Indios (11-12) got a very close home victory over one of their biggest challengers Atleticos (11-11). Indios managed to escape with a 2-point win 80-78 in the fight for the third place. The best player for the winners was American forward Jordan Cintron (203-1998, college: Niagara) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds. Naturalized Nicaraguan guard Jared Ruiz (188-1992) chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Nate Mason (188-1995, college: Minnesota) who recorded 19 points and power forward Josue Erazo (204-1995, college: Rio Piedras) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Indios moved-up to third place, which they share with Fajardo. Loser Atleticos keep the fourth position with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
