Everything could happen in Puerto Plata at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Marineros and much higher ranked Metros had identical 4-3 record. This time Marineros used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Santiago 101-84 on Thursday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. American swingman Trahson Burrell (201-1992, college: Memphis) fired 29 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized American Malcolm Rhett (206-1992, college: Ole Miss) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Five Marineros players scored in double figures. Point guard Miguel Dicent (190-1994, college: Morehead St.) produced 15 points and 7 assists and Brandone Francis (196-1994, college: Texas Tech) added 20 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Marineros have a solid series of three victories in a row. They used an opportunity after Leones lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Metros dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with Titanes. Marineros will meet league's leader Leones in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Metros will play against Titanes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
