Regular Season Round 13: Halcones - Adelitas 71-87

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Xalapa. Second ranked Adelitas faced 3rd placed Halcones. Guests from Chihuahua (11-4) defeated host Halcones (6-9) 87-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Halcones. Adelitas looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Center Danielle Adams (185-1989, college: Texas A&M) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and guard Tanaya Atkinson (183-1996, college: Temple) chipped in 21 points and 6 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Adelitas players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Kym Royster (188-1997, college: Indiana, agency: Green Sports Management) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds (made all of her ten free throws !!!) and center Sasha Goodlett (195-1990, college: Georgia Tech) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Adelitas keep a position of league leader. Halcones at the other side keep the third place with nine games lost. Adelitas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Halcones will play again against the league's leader Adelitas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
