An interesting game for Leones (16-9) which hosted in Juana Diaz one of their biggest challengers Capitanes (15-10). First ranked Leones managed to get a 4-point victory 92-88. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Leones made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 60.9 percentage. The winners were led by the former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) who scored that evening 25 points and 7 assists and the former international Michael Rosario (190-1990, college: Florida) supported him with 22 points. Even a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds by Nigerian-American power forward Chinemelu Elonu (206-1987, college: Texas A&M) did not help to save the game for Capitanes. Naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-1986, college: Florida) added 23 points and 6 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Capitanes' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Leones have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-9 record. Defending champion Capitanes dropped to the second place with ten games lost. They share the position with Quebradillas. Leones will meet at home Brujos (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Capitanes will play against the league's second-placed Cangrejeros (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
