Everything could happen in Santurce at the game between two tied teams. Both second ranked Cangrejeros and 5th ranked Atleticos had identical 12-12 record. This time Cangrejeros used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from San German 87-81 on Saturday night. Cangrejeros looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The winners were led by Mali power forward Cheick Diallo (206-1996, college: Kansas) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 21 rebounds and the former international forward Angel Matias (194-1992, college: Georgia South) supported him with 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even 12 points and 5 assists by American guard Nate Mason (188-1995, college: Minnesota) did not help to save the game for Atleticos. His fellow American import Will Daniels (202-1986, college: URI) added 13 points for the guests. Five Cangrejeros and four Atleticos players scored in double figures. Atleticos' coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Cangrejeros have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 13-12 record having three points less than leader Ponce, which they share with Mayaguez. Atleticos lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Fajardo. Cangrejeros will meet league's second-placed Capitanes in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Atleticos will play against Mets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
