Regular Season Round 8: Leones - Marineros 95-83

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Santo Domingo. First ranked Leones faced one of their biggest challengers Marineros. Host Leones (6-3) defeated guests from Puerto Plata (5-4) 95-83. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Marineros. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Leones looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Juan Guerrero (205-1993) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and Jayson Valdez who added 14 points and 9 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. American Carlton Bragg Jr (208-1995, college: N.Mexico) responded with 15 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Luis Feliz scored 20 points. Five Leones and four Marineros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first position with 6-3 record. Loser Marineros dropped to the second place with four games lost. They share the position with Soles and Titanes. Leones will meet Metros (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Marineros will play against Titanes (#4) in San Cristobal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
