Regular Season Round 9: Caneros - Soles 102-96

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Soles (5-4) against eighth ranked Caneros (3-6) on Sunday night. Visiting Soles were defeated by Caneros in a tough game in La Romana 96-102. Yeison Colome (190-1996) stepped up and scored 42 points (!!!) and 4 assists for the winners and naturalized Spanish Jhonatan Araujo (208-1996) chipped in 10 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was naturalized American Gerardo Suero (196-1989, college: Albany) with 32 points and 8 rebounds and forward Anyeuri Castillo (201-1997, college: USC Aiken) scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. Five Caneros and four Soles players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Caneros maintains eighth place with 3-6 record. Soles at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. Caneros will meet higher ranked Indios (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Soles will play against Metros (#5) in Santiago and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
