Regular Season Round 23: Santurce - Quebradillas 76-89
Date: June 17, 2022
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when third ranked Piratas (17-10) beat second-ranked Cangrejeros (15-13) in Santurce 89-76 on Friday. Piratas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Jeremy Tyler (208-1991, college: Louisville) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. The former international point guard Gary Browne (185-1993, college: WVU) accounted for 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Mali power forward Cheick Diallo (206-1996, college: Kansas) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and international guard Gian Clavell (193-1993, college: Colorado St., agency: Octagon Europe) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively for Cangrejeros in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Piratas used an opportunity after Arecibo lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Cangrejeros keep the second place with 13 games lost. They share the position with San German. Piratas will meet Leones (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Cangrejeros will play against Indios in Mayaguez and hope to secure a win.
