Important game to mention about took place in Juana Diaz. Second ranked Capitanes (17-10) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging leader Leones (17-12) 87-84 on Saturday evening. Capitanes made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Dominican Victor Liz (193-1986) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-1986, college: Florida) helped adding 11 points and 6 assists. The former international guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-1991, agency: Interperformances) responded with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international point guard Carlos Rivera (187-1983, college: Hofstra) scored 14 points. Five Capitanes and four Leones players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Capitanes have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Quebradillas. Leones at the other side dropped to the third place with 12 games lost. Capitanes will play against Cariduros (#3) in Fajardo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Leones will play on the road against Gigantes in Carolina and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
