Regular Season Round 11: Marineros - Caneros 101-107

Marineros (#5) were upset in Puerto Plata by eighth ranked Caneros 107-101. Caneros shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was naturalized Spanish Jhonatan Araujo (208-1996) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 21 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Yeison Colome (190-1996) chipped in 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Four Caneros players scored in double figures. American swingman Trahson Burrell (201-1992, college: Memphis) produced 28 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and Bernardo Polanco (189-1994) added 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Caneros maintains eighth place with 4-8 record. Marineros lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Reales. Caneros will meet at home league's leader Leones in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Marineros will have a break next round.
