Regular Season Round 23: Santurce - Humacao 99-75
Date: June 19, 2022
Everything went according to plan when second ranked Cangrejeros (15-13) outplayed 6th ranked Grises (8-20) in Santurce 99-75 on Sunday. Cangrejeros outrebounded Grises 47-33 including 35 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Mali power forward Cheick Diallo (206-1996, college: Kansas) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 21 rebounds. Haitian forward Skal Labissiere (211-1996, college: Kentucky) accounted for 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Five Cangrejeros players scored in double figures. American forward Kenneth Horton (201-1989, college: CCSU) came up with 11 points and 4 assists and American-Mexican center Daniel Amigo (208-1995, college: Denver) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Grises in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cangrejeros maintains second place with 15-13 record having three points less than leader Arecibo, which they share with San German. Loser Grises keep the sixth position with 20 games lost. Cangrejeros will meet Indios (#5) in the next round. Grises will have a break next round.
