We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Carolina where fifth ranked Indios (15-15) defeated one of their biggest challengers Gigantes (12-17) 91-78 on Monday. Indios dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Gigantes' 30. They outrebounded Gigantes 41-27 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Indios looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was naturalized Nicaraguan guard Jared Ruiz (188-1992) who scored 36 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists. American power forward Kaleb Wesson (208-1999, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Indios players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Sheldon McClellan (196-1992, college: Miami, FL) who recorded 27 points and 4 assists and the former international center George Conditt IV (208-2000, college: Iowa St.) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Gigantes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Indios maintains fifth position with 15-15 record. Loser Gigantes keep the fourth place with 17 games lost. Indios will meet at home league's leader Vaqueros in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gigantes will play against the league's second-placed Cangrejeros in Santurce and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
