There was an upset in La Romana where higher ranked Leones (7-6) were defeated by bottom-ranked Caneros (5-8) 118-110 on Tuesday. Caneros looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Spanish Jhonatan Araujo (208-1996) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and Yeison Colome (190-1996) who added 26 points and 6 assists during the contest. Five Caneros players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Juan Guerrero (205-1993) with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized American point guard Eddy Polanco (190-1994, college: SE Louisiana) scored 27 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Caneros maintains eighth position with 5-8 record. Defending champion Leones keep the third place with six games lost. They share the position with Titanes. Caneros will meet higher ranked Metros (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Leones will have a break next round.
