Mieleras dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Escaramuzas' 34. They outrebounded Escaramuzas 55-38 including 17 on the offensive glass. American forward Destiny Campbell (185, college: ECU) nailed a double-double by scoring 32 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Nigerian forward Ijeoma Uchendu (185-1992, college: Butler) accounted for 15 points and 17 rebounds. Mieleras' coach Jonathan Villegas felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trinidad and Tobago forward Chervelle Cox (186-1992, college: Central St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Italivy Ramos (161) added 15 points, 7 assists and 4 steals respectively for Escaramuzas in the defeat. Four Escaramuzas players scored in double figures.
