Fourth-ranked Mets (13-18) made lots of trouble for first ranked Vaqueros (22-9) in Guaynabo on Monday. The visitors from Bayamon managed to secure only two-point victory 92-90. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mets. Strangely Mets outrebounded Vaqueros 41-24 including a 13-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Vaqueros made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Stephen Thompson Jr (194-1997, college: Oregon St.) who scored 20 points and 5 assists. The former international center Ismael Romero (205-1991, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 17 points. The former international forward Renaldo Balkman (201-1984, college: S.Carolina) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and Australian swingman Mitch Creek (196-1992) added 19 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Vaqueros and four Mets players scored in double figures. Vaqueros maintains first position with 22-9 record. Mets at the other side dropped to the fifth place with 18 games lost.
