Mieleras outgunned Regias to open win count in the Finals. Mieleras outrebounded Regias 43-29 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Destiny Campbell (185, college: ECU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) for the winners and the former international guard Brisa Silva (170-1984, college: OK State) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. At the losing side Cuban Yamara Amargo (179-1985) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and Cuban Anisleydy Galindo scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
