Second Stage Round 7: Marineros - Soles 102-111

The game between third ranked Marineros (2-3) and sixth ranked Soles (2-3) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Marineros were defeated by Soles in a tough game in Puerto Plata 102-111. Soles dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Marineros' 42. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for American-German forward Waverly Austin (211-1991, college: Oregon) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. Naturalized American Gerardo Suero (196-1989, college: Albany) helped adding 37 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Four Soles players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Trahson Burrell (201-1992, college: Memphis) responded with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized American Malcolm Rhett (206-1992, college: Ole Miss) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Marineros' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Soles moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Marineros.
