Semi-Finals Game 3: Arecibo - San German 99-107
Date: July 28, 2022
San German rallied past Arecibo to take 2-1 lead in the series. Atleticos made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Capitanes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (201-1995, college: Arizona) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). His fellow American import guard Nate Mason (188-1995, college: Minnesota) chipped in 26 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized U.S. Virgin Islands point guard Walter Hodge (183-1986, college: Florida) who recorded 23 points and 4 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) and the former international swingman David Huertas (196-1987, college: Ole Miss) added 23 points respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
