Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Santa Ana 2 (0-6) was crushed at home by fifth ranked San Miguel (2-4) 76-53 on Saturday. San Miguel dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana 2's 32. They outrebounded Santa Ana 2 52-36 including a 39-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Honduran center Jani Martinez who scored 26 points and 6 rebounds. Ecuadorian point guard Leyda Macias (165-1983) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Sofia Zavala (167-2005) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and center Carina Cornejo (200-1975) added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. San Miguel maintains fifth position with 2-4 record. Loser Santa Ana 2 still closes the standings with six games lost. San Miguel will meet Salvadorenas 2 (#6) in the next round. Santa Ana 2 will play against Salvadorenas 2 and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
