The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Pastoras as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Pastoras defeated bottom-ranked Patriotas in Barquisimeto 67-50. Pastoras forced 27 Patriotas turnovers and outrebounded them 56-43 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Patriotas' players. The former international center Dayenlys Veliz (179-2000) fired 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Barbara Pico (168-2002) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Yara Angarita (-1988) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and Lusney Parra (-2004) added 4 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pastoras have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Taurinas. Patriotas at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Zulianas. Patriotas will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Pastoras will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Mineras at home.
