The game between closely ranked teams ended with leader Aguada's (7-0) home victory over their biggest opponent D.Sporting (5-2) 81-63 on Saturday. Aguada made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. Aguada outrebounded D.Sporting 65-28 including a 24-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for Argentinian Candela Gentinetta (181-2001) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 28 rebounds. Argentinian forward Ana Paz (178-1997) accounted for 19 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side. Four Aguada players scored in double figures. Italian-Paraguayan swingman Paola Ferrari (178-1985, college: Union, TN) came up with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and Argentinian guard Julieta Ale (176-1995) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for D.Sporting in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Aguada. They maintain first place with 7-0 record, which they share with Yale. Defending champion D.Sporting keeps the second position with two games lost. Aguada will meet Malvin (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. D.Sporting's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Hebraica.
