The game between closely ranked teams ended with second-best Pastoras' (6-2) road loss to leader Taurinas (8-0) 63-91 on Saturday. Taurinas dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Pastoras' 44. Taurinas forced 29 Pastoras turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international Laury Garcia (174-1997) who scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. The former international swingman Thalia Garcia (177-1994) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Five Taurinas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Dayenlys Veliz (179-2000) who recorded 15 points and 5 rebounds and forward Nirvana Garcia (174-2001) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest.
