Regular Season Round 10: Santa Tecla - Nejapa 113-92

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Santa Tecla (9-4) outscored at home 7th ranked Nejapa (5-8) 113-92 on Friday. Santa Tecla dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Nejapa's 26. They outrebounded Nejapa 52-35 including a 39-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Santa Tecla looked well-organized offensively handing out 37 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Nejapa's players. Dominican Ezequiel Perez (201) had a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Christopher Blake (195-1988, college: Detroit) chipped in 31 points and 7 assists during the contest. Santa Tecla had such big advantage that coach felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side American forward Brandon OBrien (201-1990, college: Clark Atlanta) responded with 43 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Kylon Higgins (190-1993, college: Arkansas Tech) scored 32 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Santa Tecla have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Nejapa keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Santa Tecla will meet at home bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nejapa will play against the league's leader Aguila (#1) and hope to secure a win.
