Regular Season Round 11: Quezaltepeque - Chalchuapa 102-65

Bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (0-15) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 102-65 loss to second ranked Quezaltepeque (12-3) in Quezaltepeque. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 40. They outrebounded Chalchuapa 41-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. Quezaltepeque players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Chalchuapa's players. Cuban forward Yoel Cubillas (204-1994) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks. American center Marc Montavious (206-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Quezaltepeque players scored in double figures. American swingman Ameer Biddle (193, college: PS Wilkes Barre) answered with 25 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward David Daniels (196-1998, college: Spring Hill) added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Chalchuapa. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Quezaltepeque. They maintain second place with 12-3 record behind leader Aguila. Chalchuapa lost their fifteenth game in a row. They still close the standings with 15 games lost. Quezaltepeque will play against Cojute (#6) in Cojutepeque in the next round. Chalchuapa will play on the road against Metapan (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
