There was no surprise in Barinas where 5th ranked Patriotas (1-9) were crushed by second ranked Pastoras (8-2) 73-49 on Thursday. Pastoras held Patriotas to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 43.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Pastoras forced 23 Patriotas turnovers and outrebounded them 53-31 including a 41-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Nicole Garcia (174-2001) scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international center Dayenlys Veliz (179-2000) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Lusney Parra (-2004) responded with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Hillary Perez scored 9 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pastoras keep a position of league leader, which they share with Capitalinas. Patriotas lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Zulianas. Pastoras will meet Mineras (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Patriotas will have a break next round.
