Regular Season Round 10: Caribenas - Capitalinas 70-56

There was a small surprise in Caracas where fourth ranked Caribenas (5-6) defeated much higher ranked Capitalinas (8-2) 70-56 on Thursday. Caribenas forced 28 Capitalinas turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Caribenas made 7 blocks. Point guard Jormelys Urbina (170-1996) scored 31 points and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Waleska Perez (180-1994, college: Weatherford JC) chipped in 2 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 steals during the contest. At the losing side the former international center Yolimar Martinez (184-1995) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and the former international forward Cynthia Polanco (180-1985) scored 4 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Caribenas moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Capitalinas still keep top position with two games lost. They share it with Pastoras. Caribenas will meet at home league's second-placed Cayenas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Capitalinas will have a break next round.
