Regular Season Round 10: Bucaneras - Cayenas 74-68

The biggest surprise took place in La Guaira, Vargas where host Bucaneras (4-6) beat league's leader Cayenas (8-3) 74-68 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cayenas. Bucaneras had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Yurkia Gallardo (-1991) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Jofranny Guerra (-1988) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Bucaneras players scored in double figures. The former international forward Ivaney Marquez (181-1983, college: Grayson County) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international Yosimar Corrales (184-1990) added 23 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bucaneras maintains fourth position with 4-6 record. Newly promoted Cayenas dropped to the second place with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Taurinas. Cayenas will play next round against strong Caribenas trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Bucaneras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
