Very expected game when bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (0-15) was smashed on the road by third ranked Metapan (10-3) 111-77 on Friday. Metapan dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 48. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Chalchuapa's players. The winners were led by Puerto Rican Xavier Zambrana (193-1991) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Martin Ramos (171-1992) supported him with 9 points and 7 assists. Even a double-double of 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists by Jamaican-American forward Devin Thompson (199-1980, college: St.Peter's) did not help to save the game for Chalchuapa. American swingman Ameer Biddle (193, college: PS Wilkes Barre) added 25 points and 8 rebounds. Metapan have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 10-3 record having five points less than leader Aguila, which they share with San Salvador. Loser Chalchuapa still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Metapan will meet Brujos (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Chalchuapa will play against Cojute and hopes to get finally their first victory.
