Regular Season Round 4: Lares - Morovis 71-66

There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers Montaneras (2-2) were defeated on the road by fifth ranked Lares (2-3) 71-66 on Monday. Strangely Montaneras outrebounded Lares 48-29 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Calveion Landrum who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American center Akela Maize (196-1996, college: NC State) who added 8 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Lares' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American guard Mikayla Pivec (178-1997, college: Oregon St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international point guard Pamela Rosado (165-1986) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Montaneras players scored in double figures. Lares moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Carolina. Loser Montaneras keep the third position with two games lost. Lares will meet Moca (#6) on the road in the next round. Montaneras will play against the league's second-placed Atenienses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
