Regular Season Round 4: Carolina - Lares 64-69

There was a small surprise in Carolina where fifth ranked Lares (2-3) defeated one of their biggest challengers Gigantes (2-3) 69-64 on Wednesday. Worth to mention a great performance of Calveion Landrum who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and American center Akela Maize (196-1996, college: NC State) who added 20 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side international guard Tayra Melendez (183-1993, college: URI) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Adrienne Godbold (180-1991, college: Illinois) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lares moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Carolina. Lares will meet Moca (#6) on the road in the next round. Gigantes will play against Moca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
