Regular Season Round 11: Danzantes - Cayenas 62-73

Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Danzantes (0-16) were defeated at home by second ranked Cayenas (12-5) 73-62 on Thursday. Cayenas forced 22 Danzantes turnovers and had a 33-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international Yosimar Corrales (184-1990) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). The former international forward Ivaney Marquez (181-1983, college: Grayson County) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Angely Rojas produced 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Yanetsy Zamaro (178-1998) added 7 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Cayenas have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Newly promoted Cayenas maintains second place with 12-5 record having just one point less than leader Taurinas. Danzantes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 16 games lost. Cayenas will meet Caribenas (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Danzantes will play against Bucaneras in La Guaira, Vargas and hope to get finally their first victory.
