Regular Season Round 2: Leonas - LA U 86-57

Rather predictable result when Leonas rolled over at home LA U 86-57 on Friday. Leonas dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to LA U's 40. Leonas forced 20 LA U turnovers. Forward Stephanie Portocarrero notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds to lead the effort and Venezuelan point guard Nathaly Malpica (161) supported her with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Leonas players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 20 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists by Venezuelan guard Crismar Rojas did not help to save the game for LA U. Forward Katie Caicedo (185-2000) added 9 points and 11 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Leonas will meet at home Felinas in the next round. LA U will play against Felinas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
